Events

We will be popping up all over Frome between March and September offering free cycling support! These events have been made possible after receiving National Lottery funding through the Together Fund funded by Sport England and distributed by Sustrans. We’ll be running bike safety checks, classes on how to maintain and look after your bike, cycle confidence classes and some super friendly group rides. Hit the links to book your place!

Dr Bike

Bring your bike along for a free safety check with a Frome Community Bike Project mechanic.
Small repairs and adjustments will be included where possible but any further work required will be highlighted and options discussed so future repairs can be arranged.
Please book a free 30 minute slot for each bike you would like checked.

We will also be running drop-in Dr Bike sessions on the 18th March between 11 and 2 at Edmund Park and again on the 1st April outside Frome library during the market as part of our bike sale.
You don’t need to book slots for these sessions, but be aware that they are likely to be busy so there may be some waiting around!

Bike Maintenance Classes

Join Frome Community Bike Project for a free Bike Maintenance class to learn how to fix common bicycle bugs from fixing punctures, changing brake blocks to changing your chain. We’ll tailor the class to what you’d like to know! Save money and keep your bike on the road by doing simple repairs yourself.
No prior experience is necessary, we’ll make sure you learn as you go.
It is free to take part but numbers are limited so please book your place.

Cycle Confidence Classes

Join Frome Community Bike Project for a free adults Cycle Confidence class to learn about safe cycling techniques including observation, positioning, communicating and understanding priorities.
Cycle training offers something for everyone whether you’ve cycled for years or are completely new to cycling on roads. You will need a roadworthy bike and be able to ride a bike already.
This class won’t teach how to ride a bike but it will help those 18 and over who are not confident riding and those who are confident but want to learn the best techniques for safe riding in traffic.
It is free to take part but numbers are limited so please book your free place.

Community Bike Ride

Join Frome Community Bike Project on a social bike ride!
We’ll be following a variety of routes around Frome suitable for a wide range of abilities. You will need to be over 18, have a roadworthy bike and an average level of fitness, also please bring your own water and snacks.
Rides are free to join but numbers are limited so please book your free place.
Our routes are mostly on quiet country lanes but there are a couple of junctions on busier roads so good road safety awareness will be necessary. There will be some moderate hills but no one will be left behind and we have planned in lots of stops along the way – this is a social ride not a fitness test or a race!
